Biography: 

Sir John Pakington was born in 1760, the only surviving son of Sir Herbert Perrott Pakington, and Elizabeth, daughter of Caesar Hawkins, and widow of Henry Wylde of Ludlow in Shropshire. He was a D.C.L. He inherited the baronetcy 2 May 1795, and died without issue 6 January 1830, when the title became extinct and his estates descended to his sisters and their descendants. His nephew, John Somerset Russell, assumed the name of Pakington in place of that of Russell, and was created a baronet 13 July 1846 and Baron Hampton 6 March 1874.
