Broughton, James (1833 -1887)

Probably the stamp of James Broughton. Born near Dewsbury in Yorkshire, at the age of thirteen he migrated to Leeds and was appointed organist of St Ann's Roman Catholic Church, where he remained for twenty years. He was chorus master of the Leeds Festival from 1874 to 1883 and for ten years gave a series of classical chamber concerts in Leeds.
