Dalyell N/A

The crest appears to be that of Dalyell, of Lingo, near St Andrews, Fife, and is the only one listed in Burke’s General Armory.

Possibly John Dalyell, of Lingo & Ticknevin (1799-1843), who married (1823) Jane Anstruther (d. 1865), daughter of General Robert Anstruther, son/heir of Sir Robert of Balcaskie, Bart, by Charlotte Hamilton, granddaughter of Lord Anne Hamilton, second son of James, 5th Duke of Hamilton.

Another possibility is General Melville Dalyell (1801-1887), son of John Dalyell of Lingo, Fife, and Jean Robertson Lumsdale. He was a military man who served with the King's Royal Rifle Corps, the Worcestershire Regiment and the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

W. Carew Hazlitt lists Dalyell of Lingo, and Sir James Dalyell of Binns
