Dublin Society N/A

The Royal Dublin Society was founded in 1731 as the Dublin Society, through the exertions of Dr Samuel Madden, Rector of Newtown Butler, and of Thomas Prior. In 1749 it was incorporated by George II, under the title of The Dublin Society for Promoting Husbandry and other Useful Arts in Ireland. It rapidly added a School of Fine Art and a Museum to its amenities.
