Gordon, Jane, Duchess of Gordon (1748 -1812)

Jane, Duchess of Gordon, was the second daughter of Sir William Maxwell, 3rd Baronet of Monreith, in Wigtownshire, and Magdalene, daughter and heir of William Blair of Blair. She married, 23 October 1767, Alexander 4th Duke of Gordon, and they had two sons and five daughters. She was a celebrated beauty and one of the principal political hostesses of the Tory party.
