Harcourt, Simon, Sir (1603 -1642)

Simon Harcourt of Stanton Harcourt, was the eldest son of Sir Robert Harcourt and Frances, daughter of Jeffrey de Vere. He was knighted at Whitehall in 1627. In 1641 he became Governor of Dublin Castle and raised the blockade on the city. He was mortally wounded at the castle of Carickmain in County Wicklow. He married Anne, daughter of William, 4th Baron Paget, and with her had one son.
