Hatfeild, Randall (1800 -1853)

Randall Gossip, of Thorp Arch Hall in Yorkshire, was the eldest son of Randall Gossip, of Thorp Arch, and Leah, daughter of the Reverend John Currey, Rector of Dartmouth in Kent. An officer in the 3rd Fusilier Guards, he married, in 1825, Christiana, only daughter of William Marshall, of Newton Kyme, and sister and heir of William Hatfeild, formerly Marshall, of Laughton en le Morthen and Newton Kyme, both in Yorkshire. He assumed the name of Hatfeild by royal licence, 16 October 1844, on succeeding to the property of his wife's brother. The library of his son John Hatfield [sic] was sold in a mixed sale by Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge 7 August 1890.
