Hollond , Robert (1808 -1887)

Robert Holland was the fourth and youngest son of William Hollond Esq. of Grosvenor Place, London. He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he graduated B.A. 1828, M.A. in 1831. He was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1834. Member of Parliament for Hastings from 1837 to 1852, he was a reformer pledged to support the universal ballot. In company with Charles Green and Monck Mason he made at his own expence a voyage in the Nassau balloon from London to Weilburg, Nassau 7 8 November 1836. On 18 March 1840 he married Ellen Julia Teed, the author and philanthropist, daughter of Thomas Teed of Stanmore Hall Middlesex. They spent part of each year in Paris.
