Maxwell, John, Sir, 7th Baronet, of Pollok (1768 -1841)

Sir John Maxwell, 7th Baronett, was the elder son of Sir James Maxwell, 6th Baronet, and Frances Colquhoun. He was Member of Parliament for Paisley in Renfrewshire. He succeeded to the title in 1785, and married, in 1788, Hannah Anne, daughter of Richard Gardiner of Aldborough in Suffolk. Their son, another Sir John, died in 1865 without issue, and was succeeded by his cousin Sir William Stirling, who took the additional surname and arms of Maxwell
