McDonnell, Randall William, 6th Earl and Marquess of Antrim (1749 -1791)

Randall William McDonnell was born 4 November 1749, the only son of Alexander, 5th Earl of Antrim, and his second wife Anne, eldest daughter and heir of Charles Patrick Plunkett. He married Letitia Morres, eldest daughter of Hervey, 1st Viscount Mountmorres, and widow of Arthur Trevor, only son of Arthur Viscount Dungannon. They had three daughters, and there being no male heir, he obtained a new patent creating him Viscount Dunluce and Earl of Antrim, with remainder to his daughters. He was also created Marquess for life in 1789. He was made a Knight of the Bath 5 May 1779, and was nominated a Knight of the Order of St Patrick 5 February 1783 at the institution of that order, but was never installed as he was unwilling to resign the Order of the Bath. He died 23 July 1791.
