O'Connell, Daniel Ross, Sir, 3rd Baronet, of Lakeview (1861 -1905)

Sir Daniel Ross O'Connell was the second, but eldest surviving son of Sir Maurice James O'Connell, 2nd Baronet, and Emily Clunes, daughter and coheir of Rear Admiral Sir Richard O'Conor. He was a grand nephew of Daniel O'Connor M.P. popularly known as the `Liberator'. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin. He succeeded his father 15 January 1896, his elder brother Maurice having been killed in action at Ingogo River, South Africa in 1881. Sir Ross was a Justice of the Peace, Deputy Lieutenant and High Sheriff of County Kerry, Lord of the Manor of Ballycarbery, and Vice President of the Society for the Protection of Birds. He did not marry, and was succeeded by his brother, Sir Morgan Ross O'Connell, 4th Baronet.
