Preston, Thomas (1600 -1679)

Thomas Preston, of Holker, was baptised 2 March 1600, the eldest son of George Preston of Holker (d. 1640) and his first wife, Elizabeth, sister of Sir Ralph Assheton of Great Lever. He matriculated at Queen’s College, Oxford 30 May 1617, age seventeen, took his B.A. in 1619 and incorporated the same year at Cambridge. He was Commissioner of Array for Lancashire in 1642, a Justice of the Peace for Lancashire July 1660, Deputy Lieutenant for Lancashire in 1660-1662, High Sheriff 1663-1664 and Member of Parliament for Lancashire 1665. He died in January 1679.
