Savile, John Horace, 5th Earl of Mexborough (1843 -1916)

John Horace Savile was born 17 June 1843, the eldest son of John Charles George Savile, 4th Earl of Mexborough, and Rachel Catherine Walpole, eldest daughter of the 3rd Earl of Orford. He was educated at Cambridge, where he took his M. A. He married 24 April 1867 Venetia Stanley third daughter and co-heir of Sir Rowland Stanley-Errington, 11th Baronet. He was a Cornet in the West Riding Yeomanry, Deputy Sheriff and Justice of the Peace for the West Riding of Yorkshire, High Sheriff for Yorkshire in 1877. His wife died 13 November 1900 and he married secondly, in April 1906, Sylvia Cecilia Maria, daughter of the Nobile Carlo de Ser-Antoni of Lucca, widow of Captain Claud Clerk C.I.E. She died 20 August 1915 and he married thirdly 28 January 1916 Anne, daughter of the Reverend Andrew Holmes Belcher. He died without issue on 8 June 1916 and was succeeded by his half-brother.
