Sherard, Robert, 6th Earl of Harborough (1797 -1859)

Robert Sherard was the only son of Philip Sherard, 5th Earl of Harborough, and Eleanor, daughter of Colonel John Monckton, of Fineshade in Northamptonshire. He was educated at Eton, and Christ Church, Oxford, where he matriculated 27 October 1814. He succeeded to the Earldom 10 December 1807. He married Mary Eliza, daughter of Edward Dalby Temple Esq. 27 November 1843, and died without issue in 1859, when his honours became extinct. His library was sold in London by Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge 9 June 1864, but some books were retained by his widow, who married a Major Clagett, a former Indian
