Trench, Frederick, 1st Baron Ashtown, of Moate (1755 -1840)

Frederick Trench, of Woodlawn, County Galway, was the eldest son of Frederick Trench, of Moate and Woodlawn, and Mary, elder daughter and coheir of Francis Sadleir of Sopwell Hall, Tipperary. He was Member of Parliament for Portarlington in the Parliament of Ireland. He married, 25 May 1785, Elizabeth, only daughter and heir of Robert Robinson M.D., and was created Baron Ashtown in the peerage of Ireland 27 December 1800, with a special limitation to the heirs male of his father. On his death 1 May 1840, the barony descended to his nephew Frederick Mason Trench.
