Biography: 

Margaret Brooke, the widow of Duke Brooke Esq (1563-1606), of Templecombe, in Somerset gave £100 to the Bodleian Library, Oxford, in 1633, to be invested in real estate, that would yield £5 a year to purchase books. Accordingly, land was bought at Wick Rissington in Gloucestershire, which still provides the library with rental income. An engraver in London was paid £1.3s for making this book stamp in 1636.
