Biography: 

Charles Porcher of Clyffe in Dorset and Borough Green, Newmarket in Cambridgeshire, was the fourth son of Josias Du Pré Porcher Esq. of Winslade House in Devon, and Charlotte, second daughter of Admiral Sir William Bromley Baronet of Brighton. He matriculated at Oriel College, Oxford 13 April 1818, at the age of eighteen, taking his B. A. in 1823, his M.A. in 1824. He was called to the bar as a member of Lincoln’s Inn in 1826. He was appointed Justice of the Peace, Deputy Lieutenant, and High Sheriff of Dorset in 1846. He married, 29 May 1828, Ellinor, only daughter of Thomas Redhead of Snare Hill in Norfolk. He died in April 1863 without issue. His widow was still alive in 1890.
