Queen's College, Oxford was founded in 1340 by Robert Eglesfield, Confessor to Queen Philippa, wife of Edward III. The college arms are Argent three eagles displayed gules beaked and legged or, the arms of the founder. In addition, the seal of the College displays Three leopards faces a chief embattled ermine supported by an eagle, being the arms granted to Humfrey Michell of Old Windsor in Berkshire by William Flower Norroy 7 April 1581. Round the seal are the words "The Common Seal of Mitchel's Visitors".
