Arundell, John, 4th Baron Arundell of Trerice (1701 -1768)

John Arundell, 4th Baron Arundell of Trerice in Cornwall was the only surviving son of John, 3rd Baron and Jane Beaw. He succeeded to the title in 1706, and went to Balliol College, Oxford. He married Elizabeth Wentworth 1 June 1722, but they had no children, and on his death the title went to a distant cousin. The estates went to William Wentworth, his wife's nephew, then by resettlement to Sir Thomas Dyce Acland. The Thomas à Kempis book passed from Henry Arundell, 8th Baron Arundell of Trerice to his daughter, Eleanor Mary. wife of Charles Lord Clifford of Chudleigh, and on her death to her daughter Mrs Humphrey Weld of Chideock Manor, Dorset, who gave it to Henry Knight.
