Astley, Jacob Henry, Sir, 5th Baronet (1756 -1817)

Probably the stamp of Sir Jacob Henry Astley, 5th Baronet (1756-1817). Jacob Henry Astley was born 12 September 1756, the eldest son of Sir Edward Astley, 4th baronet, and his first wife Rhoda Delaval, daughter of Francis Blake Delaval. In 1789 he married Hester Browne (1767-1855) daughter of Samuel Browne of King’s Lynn. He succeeded to his father’s estates and title in 1802. Between 1797 and 1817 he was Member of Parliament for Norfolk in the House of Commons. In 1814 on the death of the last male descendant of the Delaval family, the estates of Seaton Delaval passed to the Astley family. Sir Jacob Henry had seven children, and was succeeded by Jacob, who in 1841was confirmed as 16th Baron in the barony of Hastings, which had been in abeyance since 1542.
