Bothwell, John, 2nd Lord Holyroodhouse (1597 -1638)

John Bothwell, 2nd Lord Holyroodhouse, was the son of John, 1st Lord Holyroodhouse, a Lord of Session, and grandson of Adam Bothwell, Bishop of Orkney, and Commendator of Holyroodhouse. He died without issue in 1638, when the title became extinct, though claimed by Bothwell of Glencross, a descendant of Adam Bothwell's elder brother. Although the crest and supporters differ from those given by Nisbet, this is almost certainly the stamp of John Bothwell, 2nd Lord Holyroodhouse. The crest and supporters given by Nisbet are those used by Bothwell of Glencross.
