Burke, Henry Farnham, Sir (1860 -1930)

Sir Henry Farnham Burke was the only child of Sir John Bernard Burke, Ulster King of Arms (from 1853 until his death in 1892). Henry Farnham Burke was appointed Rouge Croix Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary in 1880, promoted to the office of Somerset Herald of Arms in Ordinary in 1887. He was further promoted in 1911 to Norroy King of Arms. On the death of Sir Alfred Scott-Gatty in 1919, he succeeded to the office of Garter Principal King of Arms, which he held until his own death in 1930.
