Butler, Richard, 2nd Earl of Glengall (1794 -1858)
Richard Butler was the only son of Richard Butler, 11th Baron Caher and 1st Earl of Glengall, and Emily, youngest daughter of James St John Jeffereys Esq of Blarney Castle in Cork. He succeeded to the title in 1819. He was a representative peer for Ireland in 1830, and Colonel of the Tipperary militia. He married, 20 February 1834, Margaretta Lauretta, youngest daughter and coheir of William Mellish of Woodford in Essex. She died 2 April 1864, leaving an only daughter, Margaret, of Cahir Castle. She married the Honourable Richard Charteris, second son of Francis, 9th Earl of Wemyss on 2 August 1858. The Earl of Glengall died on the 22 June 1858, when his honours became extinct.
