Campbell , John (1770 -1809)

Colonel John Campbell, of Ilay and Woodhall, was the eldest son of Walter Campbell of Schawfield, and his first wife Eleonora, daughter of Robert Ker of Newfield. He was made Colonel of the Argyllshire Militia and was elected as Member of Parliament for Argyll and Ayr. He married, 21 June 1796, Charlotte Susan Maria Campbell, youngest daughter of John, 5th Duke of Argyll, and a notable authoress.
