Foljambe, Francis Ferrand (1750 -1814)

Francis Ferrand Moore of Aldwarke was born 17 January 1750, the only son of John Moore of Kingston upon Hull and Anne Foljambe. He assumed the surname and arms of Foljambe by Act of Parliament 16 George III in pursuance of the wills of his grandfather and uncle. He married firstly 30 June 1774, Mary Arabella second daughter and eventually sole heir of John Thornhagh, who took the name of Hewett, of Osberton, Fenton and Shireoaks in Nottinghamshire. He was Member of Parliament for Yorkshire in 1784 and for Higham Ferrers 1801-1807. His wife died 28 December 1790, and Mr Foljambe married again, 12 June 1792, Lady Mary Arabella Lumley daughter of Richard Lumley Earl of Scarborough. Mr Foljambe died 13 November 1814 and his widow 1 May 1817. He was succeeded by his grandson George Savile Foljambe. An auction sale of books from Osberton Hall, of George Savile Foljambe, and Francis Ferrand Foljambe took place at Christie’s, Wednesday 30 April 2008 (catalogue 7576).
