Gordon-Cumming, William Cumming, Sir, 2nd Baronet, of Altyre (1787 -1854)
Sir William Gordon Gordon Cumming, 2nd Baronet, of Altyre in Elginshire, was the second but eldest surviving son of Sir Alexander Penrose Cumming, 1st Baronet, of Altyre, and Helen, daughter of Sir Ludovick Grant, Baronet, of Grant. He succeeded his father in 1806, and was Member of Parliament for the Burghs of Elgin and Banff at the time of the Reform Bill of 1832. He married firstly, 11 September 1815, Eliza Maria Campbell, and secondly, 19 December 1846, Jane Eliza Mackintosh, and they both had numerous children. He inherited the estates of Gordon of Gordonstown, through his father's mother, Grace Pierce, who was the sole heir of the Gordons, Baronets of Gordonstown. The library of Sir William Gordon Cumming 6th Baronet was sold at Christie's 18 May 1976.
