Gurdon, Brampton (1740 -1820)

Brampton Gurdon, of Letton, was the son of Thornhagh Gurdon Esq. of Letton, and Sarah, daughter of Theophilus Dillingham Esq. of Shelton in Bedfordshire. He succeeded his father in 1783, and married, firstly, Mary, daughter of Philip Bedingfield, of Ditchingham, and secondly Mary, daughter and coheir of Samuel Howard. He was Sheriff of Norfolk in 1789. He took the surname of Dillingham, but his son Theophilus Thornhagh Gurdon reassumed the name of Gurdon in 1824.
