Hilton, John (1699 -1746)

John Hilton, of Hilton in County Durham, was the second son of John Hilton of Hilton, and Dorothy, eldest daughter of Sir Richard Musgrave of Hayton in Cumberland. He succeeded his elder brother in the family estates 23 September 1722. He was Member of Parliament for Carlisle in 1727. He died unmarried 25 September 1746. His heirs were his three sisters, a descendant of the eldest, Anne, William George Hylton Jolliffe was created Baron Hylton 16 July 1866.
