Hope, John, 5th Earl of Hopetoun (1803 -1843)

John Hope was the son of General John Hope, 4th Earl of Hopetoun, and Louisa Dorothea Wedderburn. He succeeded to the title of 5th Earl of Hopetoun on 27 August 1823. He married Louisa Bosville Macdonald, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Godfrey Bosville Macdonald, 3rd Baron Macdonald of Slate, and Louisa Maria la Coast, on 4 June 1826. He was succeeded by his son John Alexander Hope as 6th Earl of Hopetoun.
