Henry Arthur Johnstone was born in St Pancras, Middlesex. His library which contained a large proportion of books on natural history, was sold en bloc to a London bookseller in 1921 (Clements).
The National Archives at Kew list a Major Henry Arthur Johnstone, Royal Field Artillery, active 1908-1919 (WO 339/25143).
