Johnstone, William (1855 -1893)

William Johnstone, Writer to the Signet, Edinburgh, was the elder son of Christopher Johnstone, of Croftheads in Dumfriesshire, General Manager of the Caledonian Railway Company. He was admitted to the Society of Writers to the Signet 30 January 1880, as apprentice to John Gibson junior and Robert Strathern. He married, 28 June 1887, Janet, eldest daughter of John James Malcolm Borthwick of Billholm in Dumfriesshire.
