MacDonald, William Bell (1807 -1862)

William Bell Macdonald, of Rammerscales in Dumfriesshire, was born 26 December 1807, the only son of Donald Macdonald, and Mary, sister of William Bell of Rammerscales. He was educated at Glasgow University, obtaining a B.A. 1827. He inherited the estate of Rammerscales on the death of his maternal uncle in 1837. He married, 23 March 1839, Helen, third Daughter of Thomas Johnstone of Underwood in Dumfriesshire. He died 5 December 1862.
