Maclean, Alexander (1791 -1876)

Probably the stamp of Alexander Maclean Esq., of Pennycross in Argyllshire, who was the eldest son of Alexander Maclean of Pennycross and Alicia, daughter of Hector Maclean of Toiren in the same county. Born 3 May 1791 he was Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Argyll, and married, 6 August 1840, Charlotte Brodie, daughter of John McLean Esq of Elrick. He died 8 May 1876. It could also be that of Alexander Maclean of Ardgour in Argyllshire born 11 February 1799, was educated at Harrow School, and also a Justice of the Peace, who married, 14 February 1833, Helen Jane Hamilton, eldest daughter of Sir John Dalrymple Bart of North Berwick and died in 1872.
