Norcliffe, Norcliffe (1791 -1862)

Norcliffe Norcliffe, of Langton Hall, Malton in Yorkshire, was born 24 September 1791, the eldest son of Thomas Dalton and Ann, only daughter of William Wilson Esq. of Leeds. His father assumed the name and arms of Norcliffe on inheriting the estate of Langton from his maternal uncle. Norcliffe Norcliffe was a Major General in the army, and a Knight of the Hanoverian Guelph Order 1836. He married, 24 June 1824, Decima Hester Beatrix, third daughter of John Robinson Foulis Esq. Their son Thomas having died unmarried in 1849, he was succeeded, on his death 8 February 1862, by his niece Rosamond Norcliffe of Langton Hall who assumed the name and arms of Norcliffe.
