Norris, William (1759 -1818)
William Norris of Wood Norton Hall in Norfolk was the eldest son of the Reverend William Norris, Rector of Wood Norton, and Suzanna, daughter of Robert Chad of Thursford. He was educated privately at Greenford in Middlesex, and Caius College Cambridge, where he was admitted a Fellow Commoner 2 April 1777, age seventeen. He matriculated 1780, B.A. 1781, Fellow 1783-1818, and was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn 23 May 1777. He was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1784, and succeeded his father in 1798. He died unmarried in 19 September 1818 age 59. He was succeeded by his eldest surviving brother, the Reverend George Norris.
