Peyton, Thomas, Sir, 2nd Baronet, of Knowlton (1613 -1684)
Sir Thomas Peyton was the eldest son of Sir Samuel Peyton Baronet, of Knowlton in Kent, and Mary, daughter and coheir of Sir Roger Aston. He succeeded to the baronetcy in 1623. An ardent Royalist, and was elected Member of Parliament for Sandwich 1640, but disabled, and for Kent 1661-1667. He married firstly Margaret, daughter and heir of Sir John Bernard of Isleham in Cambridgeshire, and secondly, Margaret, daughter and coheir of Sir Hugh Francis. He married thirdly Dame Jane Thornhill as her fourth husband. He died without a surviving male heir 11 February 1684, when the baronetcy became extinct. He was buried in Westminster Abbey.
