Spalding, John Tricks (1844 -1924)

John Tricks Spalding was born in Exeter, the son of John Spalding. He received a private education at Exeter and Barnstable. In 1878 commenced business in Nottingham as a silk mercer and linen draper, in partnership with Mr. Griffin. He collected a large library chiefly of topographical works, which was sold at Sotheby's on the 9 10 February and 20 April 1925.
He was an alderman and Mayor, and Justice of the Peace in Nottingham. In 1868, he married Catherine Chambers, daughter of Stephen Aveling, and had two sons.
