Spalding, John Tricks (1844 -1924)

John Tricks Spalding was born in Exeter, the son of John Spalding. He received a private education at Exeter and Barnstable. In 1878 commenced business in Nottingham as a silk mercer and linen draper, in partnership with Mr. Griffin. He collected a large library chiefly of topographical works, which was sold at Sotheby's on the 9 10 February and 20 April 1925. Griffin & Spalding.
He was an alderman and Mayor, and Justice of the Peace in Nottingham. In 1868, he married Catherine Chambers, daughter of the late Stephen Aveling, and had two sons
