Steuart, George, Sir, 5th Baronet (1750 -1827)

Sir George Steuart, 5th Baronet of Grandtully and Murthly, both in Perthshire, was the eldest son and heir of Sir John Stewart, 4th Baronet, and Clementina, daughter of Charles Stewart of Ballechin. He was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church Oxford 1765 1773. He was admitted to the College of Advocates in Edinburgh on 3 August 1776, and to Lincoln's Inn on 5 November in the same year. He married, 16 April 1792, Catherine, eldest daughter of John Drummond of Logiealmond, who died in 1823. He succeeded to the baronetcy 6 October 1797. He died 9 December 1827 at Murthly Castle. His eldest son John Archibald took the additional name of Drummond at his mother's death. On the extinction of the family in 1890, Grandtully passed to Mr Fotheringham of Fotheringham through an old entail.
