Towneley, Blayney (1704 -1788)

Probably the stamp of Blayney Townley, of Townley Hall, co. Louth, born around 1704, and died 1788. He married his cousin Mary Townley, daughter and heiress of Hamilton Townley of Townley Hall. Blayney Townley assumed the additional surname of Balfour on the death of his nephew, William Balfour, in 1739.
The stamp is possibly his son's, Blayney Townley Balfour, (b. 1743), who, in 1768 married Letitia Leigh, daughter of Francis Leigh MP of Drogheda, by his wife Anne Bingham, daughter of Henry Bingham of Newbrook, co. Mayo.
