Tufton, Elizabeth, Countess of Thanet (1638 -1725)

Elizabeth Boyle was the second daughter of Richard Boyle, 1st Earl of Burlington, 2nd Earl of Cork, and Lady Elizabeth Clifford, daughter of Henry Clifford, 5th Earl of Cumberland. On 11 April 1664 she married Nicholas Tufton, 3rd Earl of Thanet (1631-1679), who spent several years in the Tower on suspicion of being involved in a conspiracy to capture Charles II. The marriage produced no children.
