Wale, Robert Gregory (1820 -1892)
Colonel Robert Gregory Wale, of Little Shelford in Cambridgeshire, was the second son of General Sir Charles Wale K.C.B., of Shelford, and his third wife, Henrietta, third daughter of the Reverend Thomas Brent, of Brent in Somerset. Educated at The Royal Military College, Sandhurst, he served as a Captain in the 33rd Regiment, Colonel of the Cambridge University Royal Volunteers, Honorary Colonel of the Cambridgeshire Militia, and was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire. He married, firstly, in 1849, Fanny Anna, only daughter and heir of Sir Edward West, Chief Justice of Bombay. She died in 1869, and he married secondly in 1874, Anna Maria, youngest daughter of John Bendyshe Lieutenant R.N., of Barrington in Cambridgeshire. He had one son and five daughters by his first wife.
