Wright , George (1618 -1678)
George Wright alias Reeve, of Thwaite in Suffolk, was the second but first surviving son of Robert Wright alias Reeve, and Mary, daughter of Everard Digby of Stoke Dry, Rutland. He studied at Trinity Colege Cambridge, thereafter at Gray's Inn in 1637. He married, firstly, Philippa, daughter of Robert Bacon of Redgrave, Suffolk, and had four offspring. In 1660 he married, secondly, Anne, daughter of Ambrose Copinger D.D. of Lavenham, Suffolk, widow of Isaac Crane (d. 1658). He was knighted on 28 May 1660, and was created baronet on 22 January 1663.
He was MP for Eye in Suffolk from 1660 until his death, and became an active member of the Cavalier Parliament. On his death his heir Sir Robert Wright II, continued the Eye seat in Parliament.
