Abdy, Thomas Neville, Sir, 1st Baronet, of Albyns (2nd creation) (1810 -1877)

Probably the stamp of Sir Thomas Neville Abdy, the only son of Captain Anthony Abdy and Grace Rich. Abdy received his education at Winchester College and St John's College, Cambridge, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1833. Following a spell at Middle Temple, Abdy was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Lyme Regis from 1847 to 1852. On 8 June 1850, he was created Baronet, of Albyns in the County of Essex. In 1875, he became High Sheriff of Essex, and was also Deputy Lieutenant and a Justice of the Peace. On 19 October 1841, he married Hariot Alston, 2nd daughter of Rowland Alston of Pishiobury, Herts. , with whom he had five children.
