Arthur, Thomas Glen (1857 -1907)

Thomas Glen Arthur of Carrick House, Ayr was the second son of James Arthur, of Carlung in Ayrshire and Barshaw in Renfrewshire, and Jane second daughter of Thomas Glen of Thornhill in Renfrewshire. He married 26 September 1888, Elizabeth Winthrop, eldest daughter of Sir James Coats, Baronet of Auchendrane in Ayrshire. He was a Justice of the Peace and a Chevalier of The Legion d’honneur. His collection of autograph letters was sold at Sotheby’s 10 April 1893. He died 2 February 1907, and his library was sold at Sotheby’s 15-17 July 1914. His elder brother, Mathew, was created a baronet in 1903.
