Ashburnham, Charles (1803 -1848)

Charles Ashburnham was the fifth son of George, 3rd Earl of Ashburnham, and Sophia Thynne, daughter of Thomas, 1st Marquess of Bath. Educated at Westminster School and Trinity College Cambridge, where he was admitted a Fellow Commoner 13 April 1821, and received his M.A. in 1824. He married Sarah Joanna, daughter of William Murray, of Jamaica, 8 February 1832; entered the diplomatic service and served as Secretary of the Legation in Mexico, and at Constantinople, where he died in 1848. His widow married, in 1851, Sir Godfrey Webster, 6th Baronet.
