Brickwood, William (1707 -1782)

The stamp is perhaps that of William Brickwood, son of William Brickwood, of Guildford in Surrey (d.1749), ancestor of John Brickwood, the owner of Brickwoods Ltd, the Portsmouth Brewery. John Brickwood was knighted 5 July 1904, and created a Baronet, 29 June 1927. The Baronets use a differenced version of both arms and crest, but it is clearly a recent grant.
