Gordon-Lennox, Caroline, Duchess of Richmond and Lennox (1796 -1874)

Caroline Gordon-Lennox was born at Plas-Newydd, in Anglesey, thedaughter of Henry William Paget, 1stMarquess of Anglesey, and his first wife, Caroline Elizabeth Villiers, daughter of the 4th Earl of Jersey.  In 1817 she marriedCharles Gordon-Lennox, 5th Duke of Richmond and Lennox, who was styled Earl of March until 1819. The stamp was therefore created for Caroline when she was still Countess of March.  They produced eleven children, three of them sons, including Charles Gordon-Lennox, the 6thDuke of Richmond and Lennox.
