Hyde, Bridget (1662 -1734)

Bridget Hyde was the only daughter and heir of Sir Thomas Hyde, 2nd Baronet of Aldbury in Hertfordshire, and Mary, daughter of John Whitechurch of Walton in Buckinghamshire. Her father died without male issue. Her mother married again, as his second wife, Sir Robert Vyner, 1st Baronet, and predeceased him. She married, 25 April 1682, without the knowledge or consent of his parents who were greatly distressed, Peregrine Osborne, Viscount Osborne of Dunblane, who afterwards succeeded as 2nd Duke of Leeds 26 July 1712. She had previously been married, 1 October 1674, at the age of twelve to her cousin John Emerton of the Middle Temple. He was subsequently bought off and the earlier marriage annulled.
