Lambert, Frederick Arthur Heygate (1857 -1929)

Frederick Arthur Heygate Lambert of Garratt's Hall, Banstead, and Fairlawn House, Woodmansterne in Surrey, was born 3 November 1857, the elder son, of Frederick Lambert of Garratt's Hall ,and Caroline Emma, youngest daughter of James Heygate, of Porter's Grange in Essex. Educated at Eton, he succeeded to his father's estate in 1902. A Justice of the Peace, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, Colonel of the Middlesex Imperial Yeomanry (Duke of Cambridge's Hussars) and 1st County of London Yeomanry, he served in France and Flanders during the First World War 1914 1918. He was also a Knight of Justice of the Order of St John of Jerusalem. He married, 27 May 1884, Agnes Helen, second daughter of the Reverend Robert Higgens, Vicar of Wareside in Hertfordshire. He died 3 November 1929. Part of the Garratt's Hall Library was sold at auction by Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge in a mixed sale 1 December 1919, and further books in other mixed sales by Sotheby's on 3 February 1926 and 1 July 1930.
