La Touche, John (1814 -1904)

Probably the stamp of John La Touche, of Harristown in County Kildare. Born 16 September 1814, he was the eldest son of Robert La Touche Esquire of Harristown and Emily, seventh daughter of William, 1st Earl of Clancarty. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford. He was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for County Kildare, High Sheriff of County Kildare in 1846, and of County Leitrim in 1859. He married, 16 May 1843, Maria, only child of Rose-Lambert Price Esq, of Trengwainton. Some books from the Harristown Library were sold in a mixed sale at Sotheby's 27 July 1921 “The property of the late Percy La Touche Esq of Harristown, Co. Kildare”.
